Dear Juno,
The decisions you make in life, in the end, are yours, however, that doesn't necessarily mean that they are the right ones. And I do believe that you dropped the ball with abandoning that child. Now, you aren't a bad person for it! Hell, we all make bad decisions in life. But, you have to realize that your lack of critical thinking and negligence led to the creation of a life. If you would've thought for two seconds about the possibilities of sex, you might be chillin' right now. Then again, hindsight is 20/20 and I do imagine that you regret many things about the whole situation.
What you did is completely legal, and in my opinion, a better option than abortion. But, I'm having a hard time getting past the fact that you abandoned the kid. I have no idea if you'll ever get to see him again let alone if you want to. But, when I see this whole situation I start to think about the future of the child. He is, with no doubt, in good hands and I'm glad you chose this family over a doobie rolling hipster couple living off the land in the Appalachian Mountains, but this kid is undoubtedly going to ask hard questions in the future. Imagine the lonely nights this boy is going to have wondering who or where is real mother is, let alone if she left him because she felt he wasn't worthy of her love. No matter how much love is poured into this child, those questions will still come up. How is the Vanessa going to answer these questions?
Let's dive into the legality of this entire thing. Like I stated before, it is completely legal to do what you did. And, I'm glad you chose to put him up for adoption rather than 'rip the e-brake' on the pregnancy. I believe that if you chose to have sex with someone and it results in a pregnancy, then tough shit, you're a mother now. Note how I said "chose". Rape victims and victims of incest and other horrible situations should have a choice. But, someone who is simply horny and not thinking straight doesn't get that choice. People might say that it isn't fair to lock someone down like that, but think of the potential that life has to offer. Imagine a world without starvation, we can visit whatever planet or galaxy we want, or a place where extinct animals are brought back from the dead. Now what if I told you that place won't exist, because someone aborted the next Einstein. A little out there I admit, but just let the thought sink in. Point is, every life has it's worth and for someone to think of a life as a burden is simply wrong. That is why I believe Roe v. Wade should be reexamined. Allow victims of sexual assault and rape to have abortions, but limit or disallow negligent girls from the decision. Many people comment that I should have no say in what happens to a women's body and determine her ability to choose, but I find this bogus because you don't have to be a woman to know that ending a life is wrong. And if you think that you are sexist.
The whole right to medical secrecy is also scary to me. I'm a big gun activist and background checks are what I have to face whenever I purchase a firearm. I have no problem what so ever with background checks. However, they don't work... at all. The extent of the background check is a quick check to make sure you aren't a convicted felon or some crazy goon from Juarez, Mexico. But, the problem is, many names of felons as well as mentally disturbed people, are being left out of the ban list. This is because of the 14th amendment's 'right to privacy'. The names of these psychos aren't getting put on because they are protected by this amendment. Their names can only be put on the list if a court requests it. Our legal system is a bunch of bologna so I don't see millions of people being added to a list any time soon. Now I'm not comparing a insecure teen to a psychopath, but it just isn't safe by any standard to have health records hidden away from us.
Okay, I'm done with my rant now. Just wanted you to see your decisions being debated from a more conservative viewpoint. Hope I opened your mind to accept Republican views. If so, vote Trump 2016 #makeamericagreat <---(joke)
